Ecology
Luninets district constitutes southern warm unstable agroclimatic zone of Belarus. 557 - 573 mm of atmospheric precipitations fall yearly. July is the moistest month of the year, amount of precipitation in July is three times more than in the driest month March. In May and June evaporation exceeds amount of precipitation by 28 - 42 mm, and on the whole for the warm period by 90 mm.

Steady snow cover is established on December 25 – 30 and descends on February 25 – March 3. Once in 6-7 years snow cover is not established. Average depth of snow cover is 14 17 mm, the water supply in it is 30 - 36 mm.

The duration of the period with temperatures below zero is 115 - 120 days. Average January temperatures are 5.0 - -5.5 °С, July temperatures – 18.4 -18.7 °С.

Spring frosts break on April 22, the first autumn frosts begin on October 10. Recent years the danger of late spring frosts and summer frosts has increased, in some years spring frosts prolong until the end of May and the autumn frosts begin in the middle of September. The average duration of frost-free period is 160 -170 days.

The highest place above the level of Baltic Sea is 152 meters, the lowest - 128 meters.

Surface is lowland. Minerals: granite, peat, sand, clay, sapropel. Through the territory of the region flow the rivers: Pripyat, Tsna, Bobrik, Volkhva, Lan, Smerd; the channels Volchanskiy, Luninetskiy, navigable channel Mikashevichskiy are opened. The largest lakes are Beloye, which is the center of the republican preserve, Chernoye and Vulkovskoe. Two reservoirs Velutskoe and Sobelskoe supply the water land-melioration system.

The soil of agricultural land is mainly sod-podzolic and peat-marshy. The mineral soils that predominate are sandy-loam, loam and sand. Coniferous species are predominant; there are birch, alder-tree, aspen, oak, hornbeam, ash.
